Natural Structure

The Illustration of the numbers ( 6796 ) represents geometry to me . The geometry was inspired by a natural structure which is the snail . This geometry constructed was based on my understandings of the golden section which for me means proportionality . The geometry inside the geometry of the snail represents a rose which is also a natural structure . The motif of the rose has been altered to suit the modern era , that is why the structure of the rose is more mechanical as compared to its original form.

Project 2A : Form and Structure ( man-made structure)

Man-made structure

          A man-made structure is something that was built by humans as opposed to being there naturally . In my sketch, my man-made structure is the HBP building which is the studio area. This part of the building can be seen from the bus-stop.

          I chose the scenery because i feel that this building best represent the school of HBP . It was the first building in HBP that i saw when i first went to the school of HBP . The building is also essential for us HBP students to work on our studio assignment.We spent most of our time there . This building also have a lot of interesting characteristics of volume and planes. The design of this building shows the consumptions of points, lines , planes and volumes that are manipulated to form an interesting man-made structure.

        My sketch also consist of natural structure such as the trees and the grass. There's also a human and a four-wheel-drive just to show the scale of the building. The element of lighting and shadow is also shown in my sketch.

ME , MYSELF AND I

          My name is Syamira Binti Mohamed Suib . I was born and raised in Sungai Petani , Kedah . I finished high school there in SMK Convent and continued college for 1 year in Penang Matriculation College . Now, Im in USM studying architecture . I will turn 19 on the 16th of Sept 2011. My birthday date is the celebration of 1 Malaysia Day and every year since 2010, the 16th of Sept will be a public holiday , that means i have 2 things to celebrate in one day and i am totally happy about it.

          I am a very simple person who adores cats more than anything in this world and i am passionate about architecture .  I always knew that my career path will lie on science and art at the same time , Since i knew what architecture is and what architect's do , i too have decided to become one myself . The most interesting thing about architecture is how one can manipulate the spaces, volume, planes and everything just to build something new. My favourite era of architecture is the roman and gothic architecture .

         Aside from architecture , i also enjoy playing sports . My favourite sports is Taekwondo and i am also a 2nd Dan blackbelt holder. I also enjoy playing netball . 

         Being in USM gives me the chance to learn what i like and do what i want to do . I really like this University and i am glad i have chosen this university among others . I hope that i will excel and strive my way to work in the architecture field , I will try my very best to study hard and make good grades , because this education is very important to me.

          The main element in producing this logo is based on my initials and the mythical phoenix bird.The reason why is : 

• my initial ( mirrored ss ) : my name is Syamira Suib and SS is my initial. By inserting my intials , i have made my logo fully mine . 
• phoenix bird : there are several reasons why the phoenix is picked to be in my logo , this is because phoenix have wings that shows that it can fly free with joy and harmony . I also feel that i must be free to fly with my own wings to be happy and harmony. Phoenix is a strong bird. The intense red colour of the bird symbolized the courage and braveness , These aspects is why i chose the bird because i too was born to be strong , brave and courages . Phoenix bird is often link with fire . In my logo , there's a flame coming out of the bird's mouth . The fire symbolizes my spirit that keeps on burning in any circumstances . There's also a reason why people  say that a phoenix is symbolized as 'the new beginning' .This is because, based on myth the phoenix will fall and burned into ashes but will always rise again from the ashes . This for me symbolized never ending perseverance. No matter how much or how hard i fall , i will always rise and get back on my feet. 

          All the above are the main idea on my personal logo . Eventough  phoenix is a myth but so is a dragon , It will always lives on my believes as a motivation and inspiration for me.

          the process of completing this logo starts by sketching the bird, inserting my initials an and overlapping style. I continued colouring the logo and finish outlining the logo.
